dinner with dad

Okay, so I'm still not too sure how to feel about this exactly, but we'll just go with funny. Last night Dave took over bedtime duties while I went to get my hair done. He called me saying that he was feeding Lane his sweet potatoes, but that he didn't seem to like them. Hmm. He love his sweet potatoes.

So this was the conversation:

Me: How did you prepare them?

Dave: I got the cubes from the freezer, mashed them up, mixed them with a scoop of cereal and milk

Me: Weird. He usually likes them.

Dave: I don't know if he likes the ice chunks. He's making that face when he doesn't like something.

Me: Well, would you want to eat frozen sweet potatoes? Gross! You're supposed to heat up the sweet potatoes!!!

So, he started over. This time heating up the sweet potato! He text me saying. "He likes this much better!" Ya think? haha.

I was still confused how he got it to be ice chunks. When I got home and was washing dishes, I noticed that the potato masher was in the sink. Curious, I asked him how exactly he had prepared the first version of dinner.

Dave: Well, I mashed them up.

Me: You mashed a rock hard ice cube from the deep freezer?

Dave: (laughing) Yes, well, I have never seen you nuke anything before.

Me Thinking: Maybe if you paid a little more attention when I am showing you EXACTLY what I am doing, it would help. Ugh!

Pretty funny.

6 Months

Mr. Personality

So much has happened in the last month. Lane is starting to crawl, can roll over both ways (from back to stomach and stomach to back). If you blink, he will be across the room. Lane seems to be less frustrated that he can move around. We have been awake more in the night the past couple of weeks because the nugget is practicing his crawl in his sleep :)

He laughs and smiles all of the time. Is friendly to everyone he meets, smiling at them when they say hi. He has such a good, friendly personality and his sense of humor is really starting to shine through. He is very vocal, saying "Nee Nee Nee" non-stop. The other day he "Nee Nee'd" the entire way to work/school, which is almost 20 minute drive. I talked with him a little too.

He loves music and singing. No matter what he is doing, or how he is feeling, when he hears someone sing, he stops everything and listens. Especially when dad sings.

An example of his sense of humor, is when I get a little stressed, he laughs at me.... I try and talk to him and tell him things that I am doing while I am doing them so that he can learn. I was preparing his lunch in class the other day, as soon as I walked in the room, I said "Are you hungry for lunch?" He replied with a "Nee Nee Nee". I said, "Okay, I brought you a banana, let me mash it for you." I turned my back to him to mash away. Well, he was waiting patiently for a few minutes, but I guess it was taking too long, because I got a loud "Nee Nee NEE". Me being the stress case that I am, I turned around and said, "I'm trying to hurry, Lane" in my stressed out voice... and he started laughing at me. Making me smile, of course. About a week ago, I was giving him a bath, and he started kicking his feet in the tub. He thought that was hilarious, and deep belly laughed for a good five minutes, at least. We were both cracking up. Those are just a couple of examples, but I do have a really good feeling about little Lane and his personality. He is an old soul for sure.

He loves to eat, but has to hold his own spoon. And it is always messy. New to the menu are pears, mango, green beans, sweet potato, peaches, apple did not sit well, we'll try again soon.

LOVES: Being outside, music (singing), spanish, talking

HATES: Still not a fan of getting dressed

happy baby

Lane after waking from a nap at daycare... he is such a happy nugget!

the weekend

Friday night we visited Lisa at her art exhibit in the Strand at the new art gallery there. She was showing her pet portraits. She did one of Stone that we love and hang in our kitchen.

Saturday, Lane spent some time with Grandma Cheri over the weekend while Dave and I went kayaking in the harbor and out to lunch. Later that night we went to The Collection for their free summer concerts, to hear Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats. It was a fun day.

On Sunday, I ran some errands and we hung out and played with our nugget and let him rest when he needed, seems like he is getting tired with all of his crawling practice... He is definitely growing, too! Getting Lane to relax has become somewhat of a challenge, because he wants to play and crawl in his crib instead :)

Us kayaking - the sun didn't want to come out until later in the day... it was still fun.

 Lane & dad
Lane wasn't too interested in hearing the band, he slept almost the whole show

This is what you will see on a typical check-in - when he is waking, or not yet ready to sleep... and he likes to laugh at you!

This is peacefulness.
